Narnia - Do you ever have one of those naps that are the best naps ever?? The type of nap that makes you wonder why you don't nap more often. Even a kitty can have an extra special nap and I had the BEST NAP EVER.
Kathryn - Pennsylvania is green. As a friend once said, "that green green that's really green". It could be that it is the time of year, early May with loads of rain. When Catherine read that there was going to be an Amish Mud Sale happening near us we had to check it out.
Now I don't claim to have a good memory but in 1985 a movie called Witness came out staring Harrison Ford. The trivia I remembered from that film is that the Amish do not like to have their photos taken, especially their faces. They feel that photos are "graven images". Attempting to respect that belief I shot this video surreptitiously at waist level and avoided filming their faces. It makes for a bit of a weird jerky video but its worth it just to share the call of this particular auctioneer.
Three consecutive auctions were happening selling plants, household items, tools, and more. The event drew a big crowd from the surrounding community, not all were Amish but all were muddy.
Catherine - One person’s positive can also be their negative.
As Kathryn and I were trying to unstick ourselves from the mud, using the same techniques we utilized in the sand dune fiasco we were offered a pull out with a tractor.
Kathryn’s immediate response was to say no as she felt “we were almost there” and that this was a form of ceding defeat and giving up.
This brought up a discussion on stubbornness versus determination with stubborn being “bad” and determined being “good”. Essentially the English language can make the same human feature either be bad or good by changing the word.
Common good/bad I have come across lately are
- Bossy – Assertive
- Follower – Supportive
- Passive – Calm
- Slow – Patient
Kathryn felt she was determined, I felt she was stubborn. Luckily in this instance I was more stubborn/determined and accepting to adding the tractor pull event to our day, thus getting us on our way in record time. Afterwards Kathryn did agree that getting the additional help was much faster and the way to go but she did add that “we were almost there and would have done it”.
Of course, we would have, but then there would have been no tractor video.
Note to RVers: If the field is muddy, park at the top of the field.
